    The Get-Dry Answers

  • How do I regenerate the Get-Dry portable dehumidifiers and drain them of water?
GD-1000: Heat in the microwave oven for 10 minutes (on medium-high heat).
GD-2000: Plug to any standard socket (the Voltage is USA and Europe compatible) for 6-8 hours.
GD-Pro: Pour out the tank water and refill it with new Calcium Chloride (refills are eveilable in our online order form and in almost grocery store).

  • Will the substances inside the Get-Dry products change their form when they are saturated with water?
The Silica Gel desiccant in the GD-1000 & GD-2000 will not change its form. It will remain exactly the same (it only becomes heavier) and will not become softer or turn into liquid. The Calcium Chloride WILL BE DISSOLVED by the liquid and will need to be replaced with a new refill.

  • What is the "egg" (GD-1000) made of?
The egg itself is made of an advanced ceramics with a capillary effect (tiny holes) which enables the moisture absorbent. The egg base – the "nest" - is made of plastic.

  • In what heat should I regenerate the egg (GD-1000)?
Medium-high heat in a standard microwave for no more than 10 minutes. The egg itself will heat only slighly so please be carefull when you take it out.

  • How much liquid do Get-Dry products absorb?
    GD-PRO: about 1000 cc / 34 ounce.
    GD-2000: 50 cc / 1.7 ounce.
    GD-1000: 80 cc / 2.7 ounce.

  • Can absorbing an extensive amount of water damage the Get-Dry products?
No. They simply get saturated and then just stop absorbing more water. When you drain them from water again (and in the case of GD-Pro – refill it with new desiccant) they return to their "normal" state and are ready to absorb again.

  • Should the eggs (GD-1000) be placed inside the microwave oven with or without the plastic base?
Place only the egg inside the microwave oven - without its plastic base. The only thing you need to regenerate is the Silica Gel desiccant (that is inside the egg).

  • What would happen if I leave the Get-Dry portable dehumidifiers outside?
First of all - nothing bad. It depends on the weather. If the air outside is humid they simply get saturated and then stop absorbing until they are drained and regenerated. If the air outside is very dry nothing will happen.

  • Will the Get-Dry products smell differently when saturated?
No. The Calcium Chloride and the Silica Gel desiccant reusable inside the portable dehumidifiers are odorless.

  • Can I use the GD-2000 for anything else other than drying shoes?
Of course. The shoes can be used in drawers, cupboards, nurseries, shoe racks, closets, behind books (on shelfs) etc.
